Bigwin Inn - as of Father's Day, 2005
Here's a couple of Bigwin Inn photos, which if viewed alone, would lead one to the assumption that the sadly inevitable and very probable decay of Bigwin Inn continues.

Since our days there, we've all heard the hopefull rumors of the latest "on-again/off-again knights in shining armour"who would save all or parts of the old girl from the jaws of fate.

Dave Koonce was
golfing at
The Bigwin Island Golf Club this month, October of 2005, and he
updates us with this then current photo of The Rotunda.
Some more recent
attempts at partial rebirth may have been more successfull.
As you may be aware, parts of the old inn have re-opened and
feature
haute cuisine fine dining in a beautifully refurbished section
which used to be The Marine Dining Room, when I was there in the
'60s.
As you may also be
aware, The Bigwin Inn Golf Course has been reworked
and upgraded and recently won the Best New Golf Course in Canada
Award.
It was always very
scenic and a great test of one's golfing abilities
when I played it so very often with Lou Antonacci in the summers
of 1963 and 1964.
Recently, I've
only seen it via the internet, but it now looks even more
spectacular.
All I know is in those days, the clubhouse never looked like
this!
Thanks mainly to
the photographic contributions of Ray Lapointe
who visited Bigwin Island Father's Day of 2005,
we can now show you this and more of his photos, which may in
fact,
tell a different and more optimistic tale regarding the fate of
"The Gem of the North".
